1989 was a big year for superhero movies- Batman, The Trail of the Incredible Hulk and The Punisher staring Dolpf Lundgren and Louis Gossett Jr. Okay, maybe it was just Batman that was great. This week the boys look back at this non-skull wearing Punisher and if this rated R tale of punishment holds up to it’s namesake. Heroes and Villains Doomsday Episode referenced in the show. This week the boys of HMP take a closer look at a smaller part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with ANT-MAN....see what we did there? Yeah, it was dumb- it's what we do. Edgar Wright famously left the production of Ant-Man in nearly the eleventh hour but was it to this movie's detriment? Did we miss out on a possible Marvel Masterpiece or have we been in good hands all along? Join us as we talk ANTMAN, staring Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Cory Stole, Evangeline Lilly and Michael Pena- directed by Peyton Reed with story by Edgar Wright, Joe Cornish with re-writes from Rudd and Adam McKay. Heroes and Villains Doomsday Episode referenced in the show. This week the boys of HMP look back not a comic book movie but rather a comic book movie that never was. In the mid 90′s ole Superman was not doing so hot. So talented folks like Kevin Smith and Tim Burton were brought about to try to resurrect this fallen cinema icon. But they would have their work cut out for them with not only the production itself but also by those trying to help them make it. Was Superman Lives the Superman movie we should be angry we never got or should we thank or lucky stars it never got made? We open up the show, however, with a bit of news from the San Diego Comic Con International. Heroes and Villains Doomsday Episode referenced in the show. This week the boys are back with another great retro review. Josh Trank is directing the upcoming FANTASTIC FOUR movie, due out later this year, but there was another superhero movie he directed- CHRONICLE. Chronicle isn’t directly adapted from a Marvel, DC or Image book, but rather, it’s own thing. But make no mistake, HMP’ers- Chronicle’s story roots can, indeed be related back to the comic books from whence it came. How does this movie hold up a few years after it’s debut and does it bode well for the oft poorly handled Fantastic Four series- co-staring Chronicle’s own Michael B. Jordan?
